The Zarka Story Local businessman Zack Abou had a vision of creating an environment where curious beginners and discerning aficionados alike could feel at home. He wanted an atmosphere that catered to the daily cigar smoker, the couples seeking a unique nightlife experience, and everyone in between. So in May 2007, he opened the doors to Zarka Cigar Lounge – one of the Temecula Valley’s best kept secrets. Our state-of-the-art walk-in humidor houses the largest selection of cigars on the west coast, and has hard to find brands such as Diamond Crown, Padron, Opus X, and Liga Privada readily available. Once your perfect cigar has been selected, our plush sprawling private lounge awaits you with overstuffed couches, billiards, poker tables, and flat screens televisions on every wall. We are proud to offer a full bar – boasting beer, wine, and a wide range of liquor to compliment your smoking experience. Zack’s decades of experience coupled with a “family first” attitude make Zarka Cigar Lounge an unforgettable place you’ll want to visit time and time again. [read more]

Our Story We are a mall-based specialty retailer of action sports related apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories operating under the Zumiez brand name. We operate stores primarily located in shopping malls, and have a presence in the United States, Canada, and Europe. We were founded in 1978, originally under the name “Above the Belt” by Thomas D. Campion, our Chairman. Our current CEO, Richard M. Brooks joined us as Chief Financial Officer in 1993. Our stores cater to young men and women between the ages of 12 and 25 who seek popular brands representing a lifestyle centered on activities that include skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, BMX and motocross. We support the action sports lifestyle and promote our brand through a multi-faceted marketing approach that is designed to integrate our brand image with our customers' activities and interests. This approach combined with our differentiated merchandising strategy, focus on an omni-channel purchasing process, store design, comprehensive training programs and passionate employees, allows us to provide an experience for our customers that we believe is consistent with their attitudes, fashion tastes and identities and is otherwise unavailable in most malls. Our stores bring the look and feel of an independent specialty shop to the mall by emphasizing the action sports lifestyle through a distinctive store environment and high-energy sales personnel. We seek to staff our stores with store associates who are knowledgeable users of our products, which we believe provides our customers with enhanced customer service and supplements our ability to identify and react quickly to emerging trends and fashions. We design our stores to appeal to teenagers and to serve as a destination for our customers. Most of our stores, which average approximately 2,900 square feet, feature couches and action sports-oriented video game stations that are intended to encourage our customers to shop for longer periods of time and to interact with each other and our store associates. To increase customer traffic, we generally locate our stores near busy areas of the mall such as food courts, movie theaters, music or game stores and other popular teen retailers. We believe that our distinctive store concept and compelling store economics will provide continued opportunities for growth in both new and existing markets. [read more]

Community Mission of Hope

Rancho Damacitas Children & Family Services (founded in 1983 as Thessalonika Family Services) was started as a foster home for young girls removed from their homes due to severe abuse and neglect. As the needs of the children grew, so did the organization. More foster homes were added until land was purchased outside Temecula, CA to build a residential campus. In 1988 construction began for what people would soon come to know as “Rancho Damacitas” Beginning in October 2017, Rancho Damacitas transitioned from serving foster youth to serving struggling single mothers with young children through the Empowerment Village Housing Program and began focusing on strengthening families to keep their children out of the foster care system and families intact. Today our Empowerment Village campus provides transitional housing and life skills programming for up to 45 moms and children. Community Mission of Hope (CMOH) began as a partnership with the Orange County Rescue Mission to resolve food insecurity during the recession in 2009. Starting as a feeding ministry in the parking lot of Rancho Community Church it became clear that our clients needed more than just food and our services expanded to include case management. In 2013 we branched out on our own creating the CMOH food distribution and housing resource center where we distribute over 1 million pounds of food each year and have been able to connect over 100 individuals with permanent housing. In 2021 we launched our Hope Family Housing program to provide affordable housing in an environment of independent living with program-driven supportive services leading our residents towards self-sufficiency. On January 27, 2022, Community Mission of Hope and Rancho Damacitas entered into partnership officially merging the two Temecula entities aligned in mission. This collaboration will streamline business operations to create one highly efficient organization designed to assist as many individuals and families as possible struggling with homelessness and food insecurity, ushering them onto the road of self-sufficiency.
