ASHLEYIf you'd have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, it depended on the age. Most kids dreamed of being astronauts, or doctors, or teachers... when I was a child, my lifelong goal was to get to be Alice at Disneyland. I mean serious #goals right? Following that, I would have said my sights were set on the Broadway stage. And although I spent many years on the stage, and even at a performing arts high school (Fame anyone?), it wasn't until several years into adulthood when I purchased my first digital camera. To be honest, I got it to document my travels around the world. But then one day I was asked if I would document a friend's wedding because I took "pretty pictures." I'm not sure what compelled me to say yes, but it was like a lightbulb went off. I was OBSESSED. I finally had an excuse to EAT CAKE on a regular basis. Although I'm half kidding about the cake thing, the most incredible part of it is the joy of being a part of two families coming together to begin a new life together.
I don’t know how you did it, but everything just feels right. The pacing, the music, the shot selection, all of it. The video currently has an undefeated record of 5-0 in making me cry (hard) every time I watch it. My favorite moment by far is the climax of the first look, when I turn and it cuts to her walking down the aisle, timed perfectly with the music. That is seriously a piece of editing genius. I’ve been telling Anna for the last few months, “idk what they’re gonna do with that first look. I cried through the whole thing, there isn’t going to be anything usable.” And somehow you turned into my favorite part.
I can’t wrap my head around the fact that we’ll now have this video to always remember our wedding by. What an incredible thing you both do, giving couples these priceless artifacts of their day.
