When choosing a tax professional, it is vitally important to check their credentials which reflect their level of qualification. In other words, are they a CPA, Enrolled Agent, or simply a registered tax return preparer? Registered tax return preparers lack the credentials to have unlimited rights in representing clients before the IRS. CPA's go through the most rigorous testing and have a much wider scope than that of an Enrolled Agent. What is an Enrolled Agent? An Enrolled Agent is authorized at a federal level by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent tax payers before the IRS. They specialize in taxes. What are they authorized to do? CPA's and Enrolled Agents are athorized to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and have unlimited rights to do so. Our Heritage Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. Ten years later, a young New Yorker named Howard Schultz would walk through these doors and become captivated with Starbucks coffee from his first sip.
