Most kids dreamed of being astronauts, or doctors, or teachers... when I was a child, my lifelong goal was to get to be Alice at Disneyland. I mean serious #goals right? Following that, I would have said my sights were set on the Broadway stage. And although I spent many years on the stage, and even at a performing arts high school (Fame anyone?), it wasn't until several years into adulthood when I purchased my first digital camera. To be honest, I got it to document my travels around the world. But then one day I was asked if I would document a friend's wedding because I took "pretty pictures." I'm not sure what compelled me to say yes, but it was like a lightbulb went off. I was OBSESSED. I finally had an excuse to EAT CAKE on a regular basis. Dr. Wes Youngberg is a practicing clinical nutritionist and lifestyle medicine specialist in Temecula, CA. He was trained at Loma Linda University where he earned a doctorate in clinical preventive care and a master’s degree in nutrition. He is on the clinical faculty of Loma Linda University and serves as assistant clinical professor for both the Department of Preventive Medicine at the School of Medicine and the Department of Health Promotion at the School of Public Health. Dr. Youngberg is a board Certified Nutrition Specialist, and is a founding director and fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr. Youngberg is the lead presenter in the Diabetes Undone Program – an interactive, video based series designed to support the doctor and the patient in achieving diabetes reversal. He has trained with Dr. Dale Bredesen (the director of the Center for Alzheimer’s Disease Research at UCLA) and is certified in the Bredesen Protocol – a comprehensive, lifestyle medicine based, assessment and intervention model, documented to reverse up to 88% of MCI and early Alzheimer’s. Currently, Dr. Youngberg is conducting 4-Day Bredesen Protocol Intensives at resorts in San Diego and Laguna Beach. Prior to opening his lifestyle and nutritional medicine clinic in Temecula, Dr. Youngberg spent 14 years on the island of Guam, researching the diabetes epidemic on the Micronesian islands of the Western Pacific region and directing the Wellness Center at the Guam Seventh-day Adventist Clinic. He traveled throughout the islands, providing public health education, screenings, and professional training for diabetes prevention and care. Dr. Youngberg was honored twice with the Heroes of the Pacific award by the Guam chapter of the American Diabetes Association. In 2007, he was awarded the Ancient Order of the Chamorri—the highest honor given by the governor of Guam for extraordinary contributions to the island community. Returning to California in 2008, he spent three years as medical nutritionist and Director of the Lifestyle Medicine Clinic and Wellness Center for Rancho Family Medical Group in Temecula. He has lectured to medical conferences throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas. His passion is the full integration of physical and emotional risk factors in the assessment and intervention of health concerns. Dr. Youngberg has done post doctoral studies with the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine. He is the co-host of the Hope Channel’s “Naturally Gourmet” with Karen Houghton, and has produced various DVD video series, including: “Transforming Sickness into Health” and “Controlling Cravings with Contentment”. He has published several books including, The Path to Health & Healing, Goodbye Diabetes – preventing and reversing diabetes the natural way, and most recently, Hello Healthy. Chad Braun, owner and founder of XPR started business in 2008 just 3 short years after moving from his hometown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As far as he can remember, Chad had a passion for bikes. Although he worked on his own cars and did all the work on them, his true passion was bikes. Chad got his start hands on from a reluctant shop owner in Calgary specializing in Ducati service & performance. With no prior work experience on bikes other than maintaining his own, the owner was taking a chance on him. Fast forward 6 years and Chad custom built his own Ducati from nuts and bolts, with the exception of spraying the paint he did it all. Had the shop owner of the Ducati shop not given him the chance on working on these prestigious bikes, Chad may never had been given the opportunity elsewhere. During his teen years, Chad raced most of the local and provincial races throughout Canada. Placing in the top 3, Chad aspired to be an established National Rider. While most parents were taking their kid’s bikes to bike shops, Chad, a bike enthusiast was hands on and self-taught himself all the service on his bikes. He knew at a very young age that owning his own shop was always what he wanted. He would work in his parent’s garage in Canada helping out friends. Now operating in Southern California -the hub of MX/SX racing, Chad is a long way from general service on his own and friend’s bikes out of his parent’s garage. To now working with professional race teams and riders locally and internationally, Chad never forgets where he started. Although he never had the chance to fulfill his National Championship goal, Chad was able to take his racing experience and from that give back to his customers and race teams a competitive edge to those not being supported by factory teams as well as for the bike enthusiast.
