Our Story Stater Bros. Markets is rooted in the American tradition and proudly celebrates a rich legacy of service to this great nation. Tracing its beginnings back to a small grocery store in Yucaipa, CA, twin brothers and World War II veterans Cleo and Leo Stater purchased the original Stater Bros. Market from W.A. Davis with a $600 down payment. In the midst of the Great Depression, Stater Bros. officially opened for business on August 17, 1936. Headquartered in San Bernardino, CA, Stater Bros. Markets is proudly celebrating 87 years of serving Southern California families. Today, Stater Bros. operates 169 supermarkets in seven counties throughout the area, and has approximately 18,000 employees with annual sales of over $4 billion. Previous Next In 1981, Stater Bros. late Executive Chairman Jack H. Brown, a proud Navy veteran born on Flag Day, took the helm of Stater Bros. Under Brown’s leadership the Company grew to become the largest privately owned Supermarket Chain in Southern California and the largest private employer in both Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Brown passed away in 2016. Prior to his passing, Brown appointed seasoned supermarket industry executive Pete Van Helden to the position of President and CEO. Van Helden also serves as our chairman of the board. Over the years Stater Bros. has become an iconic Southern California mainstay and trusted household name by consistently providing generations of customers with exceptional quality, everyday low prices, friendly service, fresh product offerings and full-service Meat Departments. The Company has been named amongst the Top 20 companies in the United States to offer exceptional job security for its employees according to a recent report published on Forbes.com. The Company has also been rated as the “best place to shop for groceries” among Full Service Supermarket Chains in Southern California according to a Leading National Consumer Magazine. Additionally, the Company remains steadfast in its commitment to “not just doing business in the community, but being part of the community.” Since 2008, Stater Bros. has contributed more than $80 million in food and funds to countless local organizations that support hunger relief, children’s well-being, education, health, and help for our Nation’s Veterans and active service members. Our founders Cleo & Leo Sometime between 1912 and 1915, Clarence and Mary Stater moved their family from Miller, Missouri to Escondido, California. During the Depression they moved farther north to the Yucaipa Valley, a small rural community situated just south of the city of Redlands, California. The depression had taken a heavy toll on their livelihood. They were struggling and on the verge of losing their small farm. Out of desperation, the family made a decision that would shape their future and have a profound effect on thousands of lives in the years to come. It was mutually agreed that Cleo, one of the twin sons, would sacrifice his last year of high school and look for work to help support the family. Jobs were extremely scarce during the winter of 1931 but Cleo was persistent. He was willing to do anything and applied everywhere. After weeks of disappointment, he walked into a small grocery store on West Yucaipa Blvd. owned by W.A. Davis, and although Cleo had no experience and knew nothing about the grocery business, Mr. Davis agreed to pay him 10¢ an hour to man the cash register, sweep the floor and stock the shelves. Cleo worked hard and as time passed, Mr. Davis taught him how to take inventory, maintain accounting records, cut meat and everything else involved in operating a grocery store. After five years, Cleo, now 24 years old, was making $30 a week and had learned all of the business fundamentals. His loyalty and diligence had made him a valuable employee for Mr. Davis, and the educational sacrifice and the financial contribution that Cleo was able to provide helped his family recover. In 1936 Davis offered Cleo the opportunity to buy the business, which included the store and the inventory, the land, a company truck, a 10-acre apple ranch and the W.A. Davis five-room home on the corner of Yucaipa Ave. and E St., all for the total price of $10,000. Years later, Cleo recalled, “He wanted $600 as a down payment, which was like a fortune back then when a dime would buy two pounds of oleo. Then he wanted the balance in $300 monthly payments.” Cleo went to Leo, his twin brother, to discuss ways to obtain the financing. The twins sold their Chevrolets to raise the $600 down payment because, they said, “Owing that much money, we were not going anywhere anyway.” However, they were still short $300 for the first monthly installment. After exhausting all other options and about to give up, Cleo decided to take a chance and approach M.D. Holsinger, the richest man in the valley, who owned the town lumber company. Cleo recalled, “He just looked at me and said, ‘If Davis is crazy enough to sell you his store for that small price, then I guess I’m crazy enough to loan you the money.'” So the first 1,225 sq. ft. Stater Bros. Market, located on West Yucaipa Blvd. opened for business on Monday, August 17, 1936. [read more]

In the summer of 1994, my wife Traci rescued our white lab Winston. Winston was diagnosed with arthritis and hip dysplasia. Several veterinarians recommended putting him down, but this was never an option for us. We began researching alternative medicine while working with Dr. Pedro Rivera, a renowned holistic veterinarian. After several months, we developed a natural joint formula that gave Winston a second chance at life. Winston went on to enjoy ten long years of playing and swimming with his brothers. We soon found others who wanted only the best for their pets as well and VETCLASSICS, our exclusive complementary pet health supplements were born. [read more]

Vince’s Spaghetti restaurants are the only restaurants for Real Italian Spaghetti. When Vince’s Spaghetti first opened in Ontario, California in September 1945; it was a simple, six stool, open air restaurant without a kitchen. Back then, Grandma Rose prepared all of the food in her kitchen 50 yards away and hand carried it to the customers. The original Vince’s Spaghetti was located on Highway 70-99, which was the main road to Palm Springs at the time. The business was run by three brothers and their wives. By 1968, Vince’s was billed as the largest spaghetti restaurant west of the Mississippi River (with a kitchen!), seating more than 400 people. Today, because of your patronage, we’ve grown to 3 locations, all family owned and operated, still serving Grandma Rose’s original recipes. Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of healing in which symptoms of specific health problems are relieved through the insertion of pre-sterilized fine needles into certain points on the body. These points on the meridian correspond with the Qi (life force engergy) and function of the internal organs or areas of the body. Acupuncture is based on the theories of Qi flow. Health is considered to be a function of the smooth flow of Qi. Medical problems occur when this Qi flow is interrupted. Acupuncture seeks to restore the natural balance and flow of Qi . Acupuncture and herbs can boost Qi, promote blood circulation, balance hormones and metabolism, and clear toxic substances from your body. It is a very natural way to prevent illness and maintain wellness. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is not to offer a magic cure (although sometimes it does happen), but an opportunity for people to take control of their lives that can last a lifetime. It’s not just about healing the illness or stopping the pain, it’s about wellness, living a healthy and balanced life. Lin Acupuncture Healing Center was established in 2014, and has been serving patients in Murrieta, Temecula, and surrounding cities ever since. At our healing center, we provide a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment, we are friendly, we listen to our patient's needs, we provide professional knowledge and techniques to pursue effective results for patients. We're not like other furniture stores. Period. We work to offer you better prices, greater convenience, and superior service every time you shop with us. Jerome's Furniture began as the dream of Jim and Esther Navarra. Wanting everyone to feel welcome was a priority when they opened their first furniture store over 65 years ago. If you weren't on a first-name basis when you walked in, you would be by the time you left! Jerome's is still owned and operated by the Navarra family. Jerry and Ann Navarra joined the business in the early 1970's, and the 900-employee company features six Navarra family members, three of whom are third-generation retailers. We have extended our reach in the greater Southern California area over the years. All the while, we've remained committed to bringing our customers high-quality home furnishings at everyday low prices. A lot has changed since 1954. But treating our customers like family never changes. Today, the same family values remain our foremost goal in offering only the best for every family: the best prices, the best selection, and the best shopping experience. As a locally owned family business with years of experience, we're not like other furniture stores. We work to offer you better value, greater convenience, and superior service every time. Whether you're stepping into one our Jerome's Furniture stores or purchasing online from our website, we think you'll appreciate the difference. It all starts with Jerry's Price: the unbeatable value, everyday price guarantee. Jerry's Price beats a sale price any day. You might think a sale means you're getting a good deal. But Jerome's everyday low prices actually beat their sometimes-special "sale" prices. You don't have to wait and time your purchase. Jerry's Price is our lowest price all the time. No inflated costs, no negotiating skills needed, and a great value no matter when it is time to upgrade your furniture. Once you've found the perfect furniture for your home, take advantage of our convenient delivery options. Jerome's offers several methods to suit your needs, from do-it-yourself pickup to Premium White Glove Delivery, complete with assembly and setup services. But putting people first in everything we do is the way we accomplish it. Our people-first approach is our commitment to providing a sense of care and a culture of honesty for all employees. We know that by putting our people first, they'll always put our customers first. And, as a long-time member of Southern California community, we take our role as a good neighbor seriously. That's why Jerome's is always involved in giving back to our community. From participating in neighborhood walks, The Pride event, and sponsorship of several local sports teams, Jerome's is deeply involved and invested. But don't take our word for it. We invite you to experience the Jerome's Way for yourself. We invite you to come by and see what we have in store for your family. [read more]
