UP Sports Oceanside Surf Shop
The history of the “UP” brand is diverse and deep, formed in 1972 by Pete Brock as “Ultralite Products” for the singular purpose of manufacturing hang gliders. Within a few short years Pete built the company into the largest hang gliding company in the world, and developed the sport of long distance hang gliding competition. He then left the company due to the exposure and liability associated with hang gliding, and returned to the automotive industry where he was instrumental in the design of the Corvette Sting Ray and Shelby Daytona Cobra. In 1980 Japanese investor Yuseke Yamazaki and George Follman, a champion hang glider took over the brand forming “Up Sports, Inc.” The UP factory is established in Orange County California, producing high performance gliders, ultra lights, wind surfing products and other related sports equipment which are shipped worldwide. As times changed the company evolved into what can now be described as a watersports retail operation primarily serving the stand up paddleboard, surf, kayak and spear fishing clientele of the greater San Diego area and beyond. After more than 35 years as Up Sports, Inc., in January of 2017, founder George Follman decides it’s time to retire. He tells us, “I’m the luckiest man alive, I’ve been helping people have fun for so many years, I feel like I’ve never had to work a day in my life.” [read more]

We are most proud of our ability to take traditional pastries and combine them with our Latin culture through flavors or taking traditional Latin American pastries and combine them with local flavors. Our culture is a mixture of our heritage (Peruvian, Mexican, Puerto Rican) and our upbringing (Californian) and we like to share that with our community through pastries. At Sweet Story Company, our mission is to be more than just a local bakery – we are a bridge that connects our community to the rich tapestry of Latin American culture through the universal language of food. Rooted in our passion for culinary craftsmanship and cultural heritage, we dedicate ourselves to crafting baked goods and food that not only satisfy palates but also tell stories, evoke memories, and celebrate the vibrant diversity of Latin America. It all started with a wife who loves to bake and a husband who loves to travel. In 2019, Ursula started baking custom cakes for friends and family. After an amazing family trip to Peru, the course of our bakery changed forever. We returned only to find ourselves craving the unique pastries and exotic fruits found only in Latin American countries. It became our mission to share our passion for the pastries and flavors of our culture with those around us. In 2021, our life took a couple of unexpected turns. We were blessed with a pregnancy and Fernando had an impending deployment scheduled. We needed help. What our family did is truly priceless and no amount of words will ever describe how grateful we feel. Family came from far and wide to keep our dream going through the birth of our baby girl and what felt like a never-ending deployment. Temecula Valley Soccer Association is rich in the history of soccer in Temecula as well as the history of soccer in Southern California. Born in or around 1985, TVSA has grown with the city and the valley and has provided a recreational league for an estimated 100,000 youth players over the past 30 years. The league was founded by Willie Marschand as a place for the youth of Temecula to play the game of soccer in a fun and safe environment. Throughout the years, TVSA continued to provide the youth of Temecula with an affordable avenue to play soccer and was officially incorporated in 1993. At this time, the City of Temecula established the Sports Council and granted TVSA official status as a recognized league. This designation was important for the growth of the league and afforded the league the ability to have lighted fields for both Fall and Spring seasons. The mission of providing affordable and safe soccer for the youth of Temecula has been a pillar of the organization since its inception. It is that core value to has made TVSA one of the more successful and recognized recreational leagues in Cal South and District 5. TVSA has been named League of the Year, League of Excellence and many other distinctions. It started as an all volunteer organization and it still is an all volunteer organization to this day. The spirit of volunteerism is also a cornerstone of TVSA and the organization works hard to give back to the community. TVSA have a vibrant TOPs program for the city’s youth with special needs. TVSA and its members have donated money, time and goods to local organizations and continue to do so. TVSA are looking to provide annual monetary scholarships for graduating seniors at the 3 local high schools. The current BOD and its committee members would like to recognize all of those who served this organization and its members and instilled the mission and values that we continue to strive to uphold.
