Temecula Valley Historical Society Antique Store
The Temecula Valley Historical Society was founded in 2001. The Society is a 501(c)(3) corporation. Our mission is identifying, preserving and promoting the historic legacy of the Temecula valley. Projects have included the placement of plaques and markers on historic buildings and sites in Old Town Temecula, the restoration of the Louis Wolf Tomb, the restoration of a stagecoach and the production of a DVD about the local history. The Society provides self guided walking tour maps of Old Town Temecula to local shopkeepers for public distribution. Monthly meetings are held at the Little Temecula History Museum which include speaker presentations on the local history of Temecula Valley. The Society also organizes local field trips as well as sending out volunteers to the community to educate children on the valley's historic legacy. We invite you to browse around our web site. We are most proud of our ability to take traditional pastries and combine them with our Latin culture through flavors or taking traditional Latin American pastries and combine them with local flavors. Our culture is a mixture of our heritage (Peruvian, Mexican, Puerto Rican) and our upbringing (Californian) and we like to share that with our community through pastries. At Sweet Story Company, our mission is to be more than just a local bakery – we are a bridge that connects our community to the rich tapestry of Latin American culture through the universal language of food. Rooted in our passion for culinary craftsmanship and cultural heritage, we dedicate ourselves to crafting baked goods and food that not only satisfy palates but also tell stories, evoke memories, and celebrate the vibrant diversity of Latin America. It all started with a wife who loves to bake and a husband who loves to travel. In 2019, Ursula started baking custom cakes for friends and family. Tresino's, a family owned and operated business, originated three generations ago in St. Louis, MO. in a predominately Italian community called "The Hill". It was in the basement of Nana Giovannina Mazzocchio's modest shotgun-style home that she perfected her family recipes. She even furnished many surrounding gourmet Italian restaurants with her well-loved homemade pastas. Nana Giovannina owned and operated her first restaurant in 1964. Her restaurant was very popular and frequented by many celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Ginger Rogers, and Betty Grable to name a few. In 1982 her son, Lorenzo Mazzocchio, wife Sheryl, along with their nephew, opened Pasta House Ferrantelli in San Juan Capistrano, preparing the same generational recipes along with those he developed himself. In 1986 he moved his small twelve table restaurant into the Dana Point Marina and Ristorante Ferrantelli became one of the most popular four star fine dining Italian restaurants in Orange County. In 1991 they opened Mangia Bene Ristorante in Laguna Niguel, making this restaurant one that would cater to the casual Southern California lifestyle. Now Nana Giovannina's grandchildren, Gino and Theresa, son and daughter to Lorenzo and Sheryl, are bringing to the Inland Empire that same fresh Italian food experience! Allan Cantor opened the first Cantor’s Driving School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1976. This father of four was a History Teacher and Disciplinarian at Overbrook High School in West Philadelphia. He began teaching students how to drive part-time and on the weekends. Soon, he had taught nearly every teen in the area how to drive. Allan was the best driving instructor around. He was known for his jovial personality and relatability with his students. A stop off to grab a famous Philadelphia cheesesteak during a lesson was not out of the question – and something his students loved about him. Of course it was the 1970s and times were different then, but Cantor’s Driving School has always been about Family, Community, and Safety. As years went by, Cantor’s Driving School grew into the neighboring Philadelphia suburbs. And as his children grew, his youngest son Frank joined the family business.
