Our Company roots date back 47 years. In 1976, Bernard (Ben) Cammarata, General Merchandising Manager of Marshalls at the time, was recruited by discount retailer, Zayre Corp.,1 to develop and spearhead the launch of a new off-price chain selling family apparel and home fashions. Under Mr. Cammarata’s leadership, TJ Maxx was born, with its first stores opening in 1977. In the late 1980s, Zayre was restructured and spun off three of its brands — TJ Maxx, Hit or Miss, and Chadwick’s of Boston — which served as the initial retail banners of what would become The TJX Companies, Inc. TJX continued to grow steadily over the years, opening stores in new markets, countries, and continents, launching new chains, and acquiring other retailers, to bring its popular off-price model to an even wider network of customers who love our eclectic mix of quality, fashionable, brand name apparel and home fashions, all at amazing value. Vince’s Spaghetti restaurants are the only restaurants for Real Italian Spaghetti. When Vince’s Spaghetti first opened in Ontario, California in September 1945; it was a simple, six stool, open air restaurant without a kitchen. Back then, Grandma Rose prepared all of the food in her kitchen 50 yards away and hand carried it to the customers. The original Vince’s Spaghetti was located on Highway 70-99, which was the main road to Palm Springs at the time. The business was run by three brothers and their wives. By 1968, Vince’s was billed as the largest spaghetti restaurant west of the Mississippi River (with a kitchen!), seating more than 400 people. Today, because of your patronage, we’ve grown to 3 locations, all family owned and operated, still serving Grandma Rose’s original recipes. ASHLEYIf you'd have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, it depended on the age. Most kids dreamed of being astronauts, or doctors, or teachers... when I was a child, my lifelong goal was to get to be Alice at Disneyland. I mean serious #goals right? Following that, I would have said my sights were set on the Broadway stage. And although I spent many years on the stage, and even at a performing arts high school (Fame anyone?), it wasn't until several years into adulthood when I purchased my first digital camera. To be honest, I got it to document my travels around the world. But then one day I was asked if I would document a friend's wedding because I took "pretty pictures." I'm not sure what compelled me to say yes, but it was like a lightbulb went off. I was OBSESSED. I finally had an excuse to EAT CAKE on a regular basis. Although I'm half kidding about the cake thing, the most incredible part of it is the joy of being a part of two families coming together to begin a new life together. [read more]
