I began my career in the field of Graphic Design but soon found it very boring and often stressful. Two years later I entered into the world of Esthetics and make-up and knew I had found my passion and career! Soon after graduating beauty school I attended American Institute of Permanent Cosmetics in Tustin, CA. Using my background in Graphic Design, I took quickly to tattooing and became proficient in the art of eyebrow design doing permanent makeup. Understanding color theory and the symmetry of the face (which is rare in my line of work), I began to do what came naturally to me and have now been successful at it for over two decades! Joshua Melendez graduated high school in the class of 2017 knowing he wanted to pursue a career as a barber. After a year of restaurant work he had saved enough money to enroll in the Royale College of Beauty and continued to work as he put himself through school. He graduated barber college late 2019 and passed the CA state board exam January 2, 2020. He was hired at a local Supercuts shortly after and continued to work there as well as at home in his garage until finally starting his own business within the skyline barber shop where he ran his business for 7 months before moving to The Butchers Barber Shop in 2021 where he currently works.
