Welcome Our story begins when founder, Jim Carter, was an eight-year old growing up in Ohio. He would gather seeds from the maple tree outside his home and plant them in his relatives' yards. This was an early indication that Jim loved digging in the earth and watching things grow. In 1981, Jim's father introduced him to a pristine region in Southern California with views for miles of the valley below. Perhaps he reminded Jim of his love for growing things as he encouraged him to purchase 400 acres here, which would later become our award-winning vineyards in the Southern California Temecula Valley. In the mid 1990's Jim was at the movies, watching "A Walk in the Clouds." The classic vineyards that set the scene reminded Jim of his Southern California land. And the story of our Temecula winery resort and spa truly began. Jim analyzed the water, soil and climate. Finding the conditions ideal, he started digging in the earth once more. He planted and nurtured the finest grapes with his own hands and the help of a hard-working team. Expert winemakers joined the team to create the wines that would establish the Temecula winery's reputation. Becoming a vintner inspired another chapter in Jim's story: building South Coast Winery Resort & Spa. Complete with villas, a restaurant and a spa situated in the middle of 63 acres, his story continues to grow, much like the vines he first planted. As Jim tells it, "I wanted to share the complete wine country experience. Guests not only enjoy the finest wines paired with the finest foods, but they stay in a private villa right in the middle of a vineyard. We are Temecula Valley's only full-service winery-resort that gives them a glimpse of our lifestyle in one of the most beautiful places in Southern California." It's Jim Carter's unbridled spirit of adventure that has allowed his Southern California Temecula Valley winery resort to garner over 3,000 distinguished awards and medals for the grapes it's grown and wine it's produced. In June of 2016, South Coast Winery broke records with its fourth win in the California State Winery of the Year Wine Competition, and yet again for a fifth time in 2022. South Coast Winery brought home the first California State Winery of the Year award to its Southern California Temecula Valley home in 2008 and then again with a back-to-back win in 2009. The Vista Farmers Market features over 50 farmers selling what they grow; local, certified, and organic growers with in-season produce. Actual, real farmers with an abundance of avocados, persimmons, apples, oranges, strawberries, peaches, and other fruits and vegetables. Farmers also sell dates, eggs, nuts, juices, honey, cheeses, sausages, plants, wool, flowers, and grass-fed meats. In addition, there are more than 40 foodmakers — prepared food artisans that sell fresh bread and other baked goods such as pies, cupcakes, and cookies, as well as sauces, salsas, dips, and pickles. All are available fresh each week. There are 14 countries’ foods represented in the hot food vendors serving breakfast and lunch. Over a dozen makers and crafters attend each week with their soap, pottery, clothing, hats, jewelry, gifts, dog treats, and more. Each week features a variety of musicians as well as several services such as knife and tool sharpening, and massage. The market has over 600 free parking spaces. The Vista Farmers Market is located at the San Diego County Courthouse, 345 South Melrose Drive, Vista, CA 92083, just south of Highway 78. The market is open every month, every week, every Saturday – regardless of the weather – from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon. We’ve been operating since 1981 and are first farmers market in the county and one of the oldest markets in the state. The Vista Farmers Market consists of FIVE marketplaces. There is the Food Specialties Marketplace which consists of foodmakers and farmers who produce what they sell . . . whether bread, baked goods, pesto, honey, almonds, or cheese. Bio - Vera tinoco I started dancing at six years old studying Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary dance. My love for dancing started with dancing at home on my father’s feet. My life goal was to become a MD, but a turn of events guided me to Chemistry. After graduating in Chemistry and earning a PhD in Biochemistry, I travelled the world for scientific conference, while still doing dance performances throughout Europe and Russia. After working many hours in the lab, to blow some steam off I would spend nights at the dance studio. I left Italy in 2008 to move to San Diego to work at UCSD as Biochemist. Although I spend a lot of time studying and working, I also couldn’t let go of my passion for dancing. After integrating into my community, I fell in love with Latin music and dance. After doing experiments in the lab during the day, I spent the nights watching people dance. It took me months to get the courage to go out on the dance floor, but once I did, I was hooked. Throughout the years, I took many lessons and courses and ended up dancing with some of the great dancers of our time. In 2010, I started teaching some classes for fun to share my passion for Latin dance. It was incredible to see how many people shared my excitement and enjoyed my way to teach. After teaching classes for a few years, I had the thought, could I own my own dance company? During one of my classes, I had the luck to meet the man that I would eventually marry and have two wonderful children with. After spending 17 years in different labs all over the world doing research, I choose to have a family and raise my children. At that point I left my science career and with the incredible support of my husband, I made my dream of owning a dance company come true, taking my part-time hobby into a full-time business. That decision allowed me to the flexibility to live life on my own terms.
