Taco Bell
1950 - 1960 1951 Glen Bell, inspired by friends and neighbors at Mitla Cafe, creates his own version of the Crunchy Taco. 1954 Before Glen Bell created Taco Bell, he started Bell's Drive-In and Taco Tia in the San Bernardino area. 1962 Glen Bell opens his first Taco Bell restaurant in Downey, CA, serving what his customers called "Tay-Kohs." 1964 Retired L.A. policemen, Kermit Becky, becomes Taco Bell's first franchisee, opening a restaurant in Torrance, CA. 1967 Taco Bell's 100th restaurant opens at 400 South Brookhurst in Anaheim. 1970 - 1980 1970 Taco Bell goes public with a total of 325 restaurants. 1978 Glen sold 868 Taco Bell restaurants to PepsiCo Inc., and became PepsiCo shareholder. 1980 - 1990 1984 Taco Bell introduces Taco Salad and Taco BellGrande. 1989 Taco Bell pioneers the concept of linking fast-food marketing promotions with major movie blockbusters. Chad Braun, owner and founder of XPR started business in 2008 just 3 short years after moving from his hometown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As far as he can remember, Chad had a passion for bikes. Although he worked on his own cars and did all the work on them, his true passion was bikes. Chad got his start hands on from a reluctant shop owner in Calgary specializing in Ducati service & performance. With no prior work experience on bikes other than maintaining his own, the owner was taking a chance on him. Fast forward 6 years and Chad custom built his own Ducati from nuts and bolts, with the exception of spraying the paint he did it all. Had the shop owner of the Ducati shop not given him the chance on working on these prestigious bikes, Chad may never had been given the opportunity elsewhere. During his teen years, Chad raced most of the local and provincial races throughout Canada. Placing in the top 3, Chad aspired to be an established National Rider. While most parents were taking their kid’s bikes to bike shops, Chad, a bike enthusiast was hands on and self-taught himself all the service on his bikes. He knew at a very young age that owning his own shop was always what he wanted. He would work in his parent’s garage in Canada helping out friends. Now operating in Southern California -the hub of MX/SX racing, Chad is a long way from general service on his own and friend’s bikes out of his parent’s garage. To now working with professional race teams and riders locally and internationally, Chad never forgets where he started. Although he never had the chance to fulfill his National Championship goal, Chad was able to take his racing experience and from that give back to his customers and race teams a competitive edge to those not being supported by factory teams as well as for the bike enthusiast. The Vista Farmers Market features over 50 farmers selling what they grow; local, certified, and organic growers with in-season produce. Actual, real farmers with an abundance of avocados, persimmons, apples, oranges, strawberries, peaches, and other fruits and vegetables. Farmers also sell dates, eggs, nuts, juices, honey, cheeses, sausages, plants, wool, flowers, and grass-fed meats. In addition, there are more than 40 foodmakers — prepared food artisans that sell fresh bread and other baked goods such as pies, cupcakes, and cookies, as well as sauces, salsas, dips, and pickles. All are available fresh each week. There are 14 countries’ foods represented in the hot food vendors serving breakfast and lunch. Over a dozen makers and crafters attend each week with their soap, pottery, clothing, hats, jewelry, gifts, dog treats, and more. Each week features a variety of musicians as well as several services such as knife and tool sharpening, and massage. The market has over 600 free parking spaces. The Vista Farmers Market is located at the San Diego County Courthouse, 345 South Melrose Drive, Vista, CA 92083, just south of Highway 78. The market is open every month, every week, every Saturday – regardless of the weather – from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon. We’ve been operating since 1981 and are first farmers market in the county and one of the oldest markets in the state. The Vista Farmers Market consists of FIVE marketplaces. There is the Food Specialties Marketplace which consists of foodmakers and farmers who produce what they sell . . . whether bread, baked goods, pesto, honey, almonds, or cheese. There is the Certified Farmers Market which is only farmers who sell what they grow and who benefit from being in a Certified Farmers Market through exemptions for labeling, packaging, or sizing requirements. Then we have Worlds Fare serving foods from ethnic traditions around the world — European, Arabic, African, South American, and more – – – including a farmer who buys from market farmers to produce his dishes. The Artisans Marketplace features local entrepreneurs who sell what they make . . . this groups varies over time. Clothes, pottery, wooden crafts are within the variety available.
