Board Source Owner/Founder: Born and raised in the small “funky” beach town, Leucadia CA in North San Diego County. Growing up, Jon surfed daily, skated, rode BMX, and even raced motocross professionally. A dad raising two kids, Jon kept his love for surfing even when times were tough. In 2014-ish Jon was broke and at a crossroads as he phased out of his real estate career. He started buying used surfboards, patching them up, and reselling them after a few sessions. It was fun selling surfboards to friends and neighbors while getting to try out a variety of different models and designs. Investing what little profit he made into buying more and more surfboards, Jon was now selling 100 boards out of his parent’s garage in Leucadia. The Board Source was born. The business rapidly outgrew the garage much to the chagrin of the neighbors. Not interested in the traditional surf shop model, Jon chose the current warehouse location in Carlsbad, CA. 800 square feet felt like plenty of space. It was not… thousands of surfboards later, the Board Source now occupies 5,000 square feet with an ever-rotating stock of 600+ new and used surfboards. Present day, Jon dawn patrols every morning with his now adult son and daughter and surfs and travels with his surfer wife, Kira. No longer a one-man show, Jon has recruited some of the best in the surfboard business to handle the day-to-day operations. His number one goal is a high level of customer service to create the ultimate board-buying experience. “My team has now taken my shop to a whole new level. Our Heritage Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. Ten years later, a young New Yorker named Howard Schultz would walk through these doors and become captivated with Starbucks coffee from his first sip. After joining the company in 1982, a different cobblestone road would lead him to another discovery. It was on a trip to Milan in 1983 that Howard first experienced Italy’s coffeehouses, and he returned to Seattle inspired to bring the warmth and artistry of its coffee culture to Starbucks. By 1987, we swapped our brown aprons for green ones and embarked on our next chapter as a coffeehouse. Starbucks would soon expand to Chicago and Vancouver, Canada and then on to California, Washington, D.C. and New York. By 1996, we would cross the Pacific to open our first store in Japan, followed by Europe in 1998 and China in 1999. At the age of 19, I convinced my Grandmother to retire and sell her shop to me ("Carson Florist and Gifts" located in Carson, CA). After several years of owning a retail flower shop, I decided to relocate to the Temecula Valley area. I wanted to start raising a family and let's be honest the cost of living is an huge plus compared to Los Angeles county. As soon as my children hit school age I created Sweet Stems Florist. I wanted to specialize specifically in designing for Events. I prefer and enjoy the Event side of floral design so much more vs the storefront retail side. As an Event Florist I feel like I am able to provide a more personalized experience to each of my clients. The Services that I offer will stand out above others in my industry because I strive for excellent quality and affordability for my clients. I take great pride in my artistic creativity and the quality of product I offer to my customers.
