An Idea to Meet a Need Since 1945, U-Haul has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households. Like many other successful ventures, the concept for U-Haul was generated out of need. "Sam" Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, recognized that need and acted upon it. Their visionary approach spread the cost of ownership among many users, facilitating the mobility of the populations of the U.S. and Canada. [read more]

Coral Tree House is the home of Greg and Michelle LaLonde. In 1995, while looking for a forever home to raise their 4 boys, they found the tiny community of Rainbow and fell in love. The house itself was in need of lots of TLC and the 2.6 acre property was mostly dirt, but the potential was there. Over the years Greg, a general contractor by trade, remodeled, added to and added on until, 25 years later, the tiny paradise known as Coral Tree House was born. [read more]

We specialize in delicious home-baked goods with a Latin American flare. The traditional items we make are custom cakes, cupcakes, gourmet cookies, and other pastries. Our Latin American pastries are alfajores, pastelitos, sweet empanadas, gourmet conchas, cupcake conchas, and many more. We are most known for our French macarons, alfajores, and conchas. We are most proud of our ability to take traditional pastries and combine them with our Latin culture through flavors or taking traditional Latin American pastries and combine them with local flavors. Our culture is a mixture of our heritage (Peruvian, Mexican, Puerto Rican) and our upbringing (Californian) and we like to share that with our community through pastries. At Sweet Story Company, our mission is to be more than just a local bakery – we are a bridge that connects our community to the rich tapestry of Latin American culture through the universal language of food. Rooted in our passion for culinary craftsmanship and cultural heritage, we dedicate ourselves to crafting baked goods and food that not only satisfy palates but also tell stories, evoke memories, and celebrate the vibrant diversity of Latin America. It all started with a wife who loves to bake and a husband who loves to travel. In 2019, Ursula started baking custom cakes for friends and family. After an amazing family trip to Peru, the course of our bakery changed forever. We returned only to find ourselves craving the unique pastries and exotic fruits found only in Latin American countries. It became our mission to share our passion for the pastries and flavors of our culture with those around us. In 2021, our life took a couple of unexpected turns. We were blessed with a pregnancy and Fernando had an impending deployment scheduled. We needed help. What our family did is truly priceless and no amount of words will ever describe how grateful we feel. Family came from far and wide to keep our dream going through the birth of our baby girl and what felt like a never-ending deployment. Today, we are not just Ursula and Fernando’s Sweet Story Company. We are a veteran-owned small business. We are a bakery with a passion for introducing our culture to others through our pastries. We are a support system, a team, a family. We believe that every bite should be an experience, a journey that transcends borders and brings people together. Our commitment is to create traditional Latin American pastries, cakes, and food with our own California twist that will resonate with the flavors of home, no matter where one’s roots lie. With each creation, we share a slice of our heritage, inviting our community to explore, savor, and connect with the mosaic of traditions that make up our Latin American identity. Guided by our passion, integrity, and the spirit of sharing, we strive to curate a warm and welcoming environment where people from all walks of life can gather, converse, and create memories. By offering a taste of Latin America’s culinary treasures, we aim to foster cultural appreciation, enrich lives, and build bridges that strengthen the bonds of our diverse community. Ultimately, our mission is to create more than baked goods and food; we aspire to cultivate a sense of community through the shared joy of flavors that celebrate the depth and richness of Latin American culture. At Sweet Story Company, our purpose is to empower palates and embrace cultures, leaving an indelible mark on hearts and palates alike. Our baked goods and food are meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans who share a deep appreciation for the art of baking. With a commitment to using premium ingredients and unique recipes, we ensure that each creation embodies the flavors and textures that define the essence of Latin American cuisine. Beyond the delicious flavors, we are passionate about sharing the stories and traditions that accompany each dish. Every item on our menu tells a tale of how present generations build upon traditional recipes, inviting customers to embark on a journey of cultural exploration and growth with every bite. Sweet Story Company is more than just a place to satisfy cravings; it’s a hub where individuals feel like family, where abuelita thinks you don’t eat enough and asks you why you’re not married yet. We foster a welcoming and warm atmosphere where members of the community become family. Whether it’s café con pan for breakfast, a custom cake for a special occasion, or wholesale orders for local businesses, we pride ourselves on providing personalized service that meets the unique needs of our customers. Our goal is to create memorable experiences that exceed expectations. We believe that food has the power to create lasting memories. By infusing our baked goods and food with the flavors of Latin America, we aspire to be a part of the milestones, celebrations, and everyday moments that shape the lives of our customers. [read more]

Built from all the right materials When The Home Depot was founded in 1978, Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank had no idea how revolutionary this new “hardware store” would be for home improvement and the retail industry. Today, we’re proud to be the world’s largest home improvement retailer. In more than 2,300 stores across North America, we aspire to excel in service – to our customers, associates, communities and shareholders. That’s what leadership means to us. That's The Home Depot difference. NORTH AMERICAN PRESENCE Our founders' vision of one-stop shopping for the do-it-yourselfer came to fruition when they opened the first two Home Depot stores on June 22, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia. The first stores, at around 60,000 square feet each, were cavernous warehouses that dwarfed the competition and stocked 25,000 products, much more than the average hardware store at that time. Today, The Home Depot is the world's largest home improvement retailer with approximately 475,000 orange-blooded associates and more than 2,300 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The typical store today averages 105,000 square feet of indoor retail space, interconnected with an e-commerce business that offers more than one million products for the DIY customer, professional contractors, and the industry's largest installation business for the Do-It-For-Me customer.
