Some people think happiness is elusive. That all you can do is sit back and hope it comes to you. Well, they don’t see what we see. Made your bed? That’s a reason to celebrate. Put on pants with actual buttons? There’s another. Catch your kid’s smile coming off the bus today? Worth celebrating. See, happiness isn’t a lottery you win; it’s a choice you can make. Even if the world hands you a million reasons to choose otherwise. So laugh it off over ice cream. Get a just-because cake. Find your slice of happiness to celebrate. [read more]

The Fountain is one of two 18-hole golf courses at the Welk Resort San Diego. The other course, the Oaks, is an 18-hole, par-3 course that is great short-game practice for all skill levels. Although the Fountain is an executive-length course, it is as formidable as most full-length golf courses. Even low handicappers will be tested by the narrow layout, which covers a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. In addition to a slew of strategically placed bunkers and trees that demand accuracy, water hazards also come into play on a few holes. There are many risk-reward opportunities throughout the course where good strategy will reap many benefits. The golf course has some tricky holes but it is not overly punishing, making it more approachable for a wide range of skill levels. [read more]

Our story began in the 1970s, when a young businessman named Dan Stephenson visited Europe for the first time and fell in love with the countryside, the food and wine, the culture and the lifestyle. From then on, he had a passion to share his experiences with whomever crossed his path. Thirty years later, Dan and his friend purchased more than 300 acres of land in a little place called the Temecula Valley Wine Country. At that moment, his dream to bring Europe and her old-world charms to our corner of the world sprang to life. Europa Village was born and the strategy for a multi-winery resort was carefully crafted and began rolling out phase by phase, one exciting destination at a time. [read more]

Over forty years ago, Tree of Life Nursery began propagating California native plants with the notion that the developed hillsides and open spaces in the state were in desperate need of returning to their natural, beautiful forms. Today, the nursery supplies a high quality line of over 500 species and varieties for landscaping and ecological restoration at the wholesale level. Located on 40 acres of the historic Rancho Mission Viejo in San Juan Capistrano, Tree of Life Nursery provides a means by which California’s precious flora can return to the land. Services offered include special orders for site-specific provenance, rare and endangered species, various sizes of containerized and bare root plants, and large quantities for restoration jobs. Tree of Life Nursery staff has extensive experience in ecological restoration, habitat enhancement and authentic landscaping. Focusing on stewardship of the land, we are truly dedicated to the concept of horticulture appropriate to this beautiful region called California. Now, Tree of Life natives are made available to the general public through the Casa ‘La Paz’ Plant & Book Store, where plants and books are on display for the gardener and homeowner. Customers who discover the nursery for the first time are delighted by the natural setting and enlightened with the information that greets them when they make the trip out the Ortega Highway. California’s unique climate, history and culture provide us with a canvas for a classic painting. Ultimately, with education and persistence, we hope to see a return to a more conservative, genuine landscape. For forty years, Tree of Life Nursery has been an advocate for a California that looks like it should—authentic California. Mike Evans, President and Jeff Bohn, Chief Executive Officer [read more]
