The Journey Begins Many years ago, Arianna Niccola Smith and her closest friends discovered a magical place for tea. They were captivated by the experience and it soon became their favorite spot for special occasions. Arianna then shared this delightful experience with her mother Claudia and sisters Shannon and Lisa, together enjoying the haven for quiet conversations, where afternoons slipped away unnoticed. The concept of tea resonated so deeply with Claudia and her daughters that they began dreaming of opening their own tea house. However, they needed to convince Allan, the father and husband, who initially had no interest in the idea. Reluctantly, he was dragged along and soon realized the merits and uniqueness of the tea concept. The Niccola family quickly recognized the significance of creating a place where people could forge meaningful relationships. They envisioned a special, serene setting where guests could enjoy each other's company. In today's stress-filled society, such a place would be truly exceptional, relevant, and healing. The journey continued as the family embarked on finding the perfect location with the support of numerous family members and friends. Today, we stand proudly, staying true to our original mission statement: "Building relationships, one cup at a time…" Though times have changed and years have passed, the dream lives on through Damian, the Niccola's grandson, who has been involved from the very beginning. UP Sports Oceanside Surf Shop
The history of the “UP” brand is diverse and deep, formed in 1972 by Pete Brock as “Ultralite Products” for the singular purpose of manufacturing hang gliders. Within a few short years Pete built the company into the largest hang gliding company in the world, and developed the sport of long distance hang gliding competition. He then left the company due to the exposure and liability associated with hang gliding, and returned to the automotive industry where he was instrumental in the design of the Corvette Sting Ray and Shelby Daytona Cobra. In 1980 Japanese investor Yuseke Yamazaki and George Follman, a champion hang glider took over the brand forming “Up Sports, Inc.” The UP factory is established in Orange County California, producing high performance gliders, ultra lights, wind surfing products and other related sports equipment which are shipped worldwide. As times changed the company evolved into what can now be described as a watersports retail operation primarily serving the stand up paddleboard, surf, kayak and spear fishing clientele of the greater San Diego area and beyond. After more than 35 years as Up Sports, Inc., in January of 2017, founder George Follman decides it’s time to retire. He tells us, “I’m the luckiest man alive, I’ve been helping people have fun for so many years, I feel like I’ve never had to work a day in my life.” [read more]

I thought “hmm, that might not be a fit for me because I’m already tan.” Wow, was I wrong about that. My passion for spray tanning only blossomed from there!
