The Potters House Christian Fellowship Church
The story begins in Prescott, Arizona... The Jesus People Movement was sweeping America and multitudes of young people were being profoundly saved and converted to Christ. While many of the traditional churches closed their doors to the long haired, denim clad hippies, Pastor Wayman Mitchell received them with open arms. Pastor Mitchells solid grounding in the Word of God and his passion to take the Gospel into all the world was soon imparted in to the hearts of many zealous new converts. In a few short years, several young couples were launched into surrounding cities to pioneer new churches. In 1976, following the pattern that had been set in Prescott AZ, a couple was sent into Tempe, AZ to begin a new church. From there a couple was sent into San Diego, CA. Another church was formed when San Diego sent a couple into Imperial Beach, CA. It was in the Imperial Beach church that Uriel Servin Jr was saved, baptized, and was eventually sent to assume leadership of the church in Temecula, CA from Pastor Justin Carl who answered the call to go to Betim, Brazil. The emphasis of the church was Evangelism, Discipleship, Church Planting, and World Evangelism...and it still is! [read more]

Our Heritage Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. Ten years later, a young New Yorker named Howard Schultz would walk through these doors and become captivated with Starbucks coffee from his first sip. After joining the company in 1982, a different cobblestone road would lead him to another discovery. It was on a trip to Milan in 1983 that Howard first experienced Italy’s coffeehouses, and he returned to Seattle inspired to bring the warmth and artistry of its coffee culture to Starbucks. By 1987, we swapped our brown aprons for green ones and embarked on our next chapter as a coffeehouse. Starbucks would soon expand to Chicago and Vancouver, Canada and then on to California, Washington, D.C. and New York. By 1996, we would cross the Pacific to open our first store in Japan, followed by Europe in 1998 and China in 1999. Over the next two decades, we would grow to welcome millions of customers each week and become a part of the fabric of tens of thousands of neighborhoods all around the world. Simply put, Joe Bagnasco is a tree surgeon. He is trained in the art and science of evaluating and maintaining the health of trees. At times, this means trimming or removing limbs to mitigate long-term damage to trees or to surrounding property. Sadly, sometimes this means emergency tree care, or full removal, but of course this is a last resort. 1909 Temecula, founded in September 2014, is a tribute to the Machado building, the location where the restaurant and bar now lives. Our name, 1909, comes from the year our building was re-built after burning down in 1908. Well before the 1909 burger was created, our building was home to a trading post, livery, auto shop, church and most notably a bar. During the 60's & 70's, the Long Branch Saloon was known as the roughest place in town to get a drink. Locals often stop in and tell stories of brawls and shootings. In fact, several bullet holes still remain in the ceiling. Today, the building serves as an ideal spot for unique food, handcrafted cocktails and craft beer. 1909 has an industrial appearance that is still inviting and fun. St. Michael's Pickleball
The pickleball courts at St. Michael’s by-the-Sea were born out of community, and exist to serve the community! St. Michael’s was first introduced to this budding sport through neighbors at Carlsbad by the Sea (CBTS). In the fall of 2013 residents of CBTS were in search of a place to play their beloved sport. The two communities partnered to resurface and paint two pickleball courts in St. Michael’s north parking lot. Residents played regularly, and parishioners and clergy began to take notice! As St. Michael’s began to imagine professional courts in its vacant parcel, leadership learned (through another church partnership) of a grant opportunity through the Carlsbad Charitable Foundation. In the spring of 2015, the Foundation awarded St. Michael’s $23,400 for the establishment of two professional pickleball courts! In an effort to make the courts as accessible as possible, the St. Michael’s Pickleball Association was formed. Comprised of parishioners, residents of CBTS, and local pickleball enthusiasts from around North County, the mission of the Association is: To provide an opportunity for healthy, wholesome fun to people of all ages through the wonderful sport of pickleball!
