About The Mexico Cafe In 1951, The Mexico Café was founded by Ernesto and Feliciana Gaitan in San Bernardino. With the support of her husband, Feliciana ran the operation in an era during which women in business was not a common occurrence. However, Ernesto recognized that his wife had a natural instinct for business and work ethic that is needed in any successful endeavor. He was right. Feliciana, with 5 children at home, was able to tend to her family and still catapult The Mexico Café to success. Although all 5 of her children worked at the restaurant at some point in their lives; it was her youngest son and daughter-in-law, Art and Julia, that eventually purchased the café located in the west-side of San Bernardino City and ran the operation together. In 1974, Arthur and Julia Gaitan relocated the Café to a new location which they designed and built in the north-side of San Bernardino on Highland Ave. The restaurant was a huge success and has remained an icon and one of the few longest running restaurants in the City of San Bernardino. The Gaitan Family still owns and operates the café as the fourth generation embarks on continuing the visions of their great grandparents. Since 1951, The Mexico Café has maintained it's success by adhering to the guidelines provided by its founders, Ernesto and Feliciana Gaitan; providing a clean, safe establishment that is family oriented while providing authentic Mexican cuisine. Our Heritage Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. Ten years later, a young New Yorker named Howard Schultz would walk through these doors and become captivated with Starbucks coffee from his first sip. After joining the company in 1982, a different cobblestone road would lead him to another discovery. It was on a trip to Milan in 1983 that Howard first experienced Italy’s coffeehouses, and he returned to Seattle inspired to bring the warmth and artistry of its coffee culture to Starbucks. By 1987, we swapped our brown aprons for green ones and embarked on our next chapter as a coffeehouse. Starbucks would soon expand to Chicago and Vancouver, Canada and then on to California, Washington, D.C. and New York. By 1996, we would cross the Pacific to open our first store in Japan, followed by Europe in 1998 and China in 1999. Over the next two decades, we would grow to welcome millions of customers each week and become a part of the fabric of tens of thousands of neighborhoods all around the world. Vince’s Spaghetti restaurants are the only restaurants for Real Italian Spaghetti. When Vince’s Spaghetti first opened in Ontario, California in September 1945; it was a simple, six stool, open air restaurant without a kitchen. Back then, Grandma Rose prepared all of the food in her kitchen 50 yards away and hand carried it to the customers. The original Vince’s Spaghetti was located on Highway 70-99, which was the main road to Palm Springs at the time. The business was run by three brothers and their wives. By 1968, Vince’s was billed as the largest spaghetti restaurant west of the Mississippi River (with a kitchen!), seating more than 400 people. Today, because of your patronage, we’ve grown to 3 locations, all family owned and operated, still serving Grandma Rose’s original recipes. The Temecula location is an Express specializing in serving the community the original recipes as our historic first location yet ready for your both for Dine-In and for Drive-Thru. Did you know that we serve over 30 tons of spaghetti every month! Over 25,000 miles of spaghetti every year! We have dine in or take out so we can conveniently serve all your needs.
