Surf Ride Boardshop
Surf Ride was founded in 1974 by twin brothers Bill and Richard Bernard with the original and flagship location being in Oceanside on Coast Hwy. Bill and Richard started out in a little 800 sqf adobe building on what was then called "Hill Street" in Oceanside CA. Originally a Hobie Cat dealership with a focus on the core sports of the ocean. As sailing became less popular and every time it rained in Oceanside the adobe building would leak water through the walls and the streets would flood the front door, the brothers decided it was time to build a new building. They knew that they needed one that could fulfill the dreams they had of becoming Californias premier destination shop for all things SURF! In 1984 they began construction on what is now Surf Ride. The building was originally split into 3 different business with a restaurant on the side. As business improved and the need for more space was fulfilled by tearing down walls and expanding the surf department. Business was booming for surf and after 13 years they decided it was time to open an second location. In 1997 the Solan Beach location was opened up. The 7,500 sqf store was custom built from the ground up to house the largest surfboard selection in California. By 2005 the brothers had both had enough of the daily grind and decided to retire and let the next generation take over the business. Dustin and Josh Bernard stepped in to let their dad and uncle chase the dream of sailing the South Pacific and surfing perfect waves in warm water. Today, Dustin is actively shaping surfboards for Surf Ride under the SR/MFG label and Josh is the active CEO of Surf Ride. Surf Ride Boardshops are truly one of the last surviving core family owned surf shops in AMERICA. Surf Ride specializes in having the best boards, wetsuits, and clothing that the surf industry has to offer. They also have an amazing fleet of rental boards both foam boards and custom hand shaped epoxy boards. During the summer Surf Ride Surf Camp is the best place for kids to learn how to surf! Temecula United Methodist Church
Temecula United Methodist Church The History of Temecula United Methodist Church The Rev. David French served as a Missionary to India for a few years and then returned to serve churches in the southern California area including Corona UMC from 1979-1985. While on a sabbatical leave in 1986, David went to the Bishop and told him that he would like to start a church. The Bishop said “yes” and the rest is history. On July 1, 1987 Rev. French was sent to Temecula to start a church without buildings and without people! At the same time, land had been purchased by the denomination at the current site, a nice hill-top campus just north of Temecula High School below the water tower off Margarita Road. Rev. French immediately began knocking on doors and soon a flock of followers said, “Yes” and the first of five temporary worship facilities were rented around the city. The church continued to grow and in 1995 the first construction phase was completed to the joy of everyone! Rev. French retired in 1997 and the Rev. Dr. Randy Johnson was assigned to continue the church. In 1998, donations again were received and a major second phase of construction was completed that now included expanded worship space, a kitchen, and new offices. The church continued to grow and in 2002, once more the congregation raised funds to build a third phase of construction that included a dedicated space for youth ministry and other classrooms plus two new bathrooms! In July, 2014, Rev. Rick Malec was assigned as Pastor of Temecula United Methodist Church. Under his leadership we continued to upgrade our facilities and our audio-visual equipment. With ample facilities the congregation now totals about 300 members with around 175 in worship each Sunday. Rev. Malec retired from ministry in June of 2024. [read more]

Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican
The year was 1997. The place, a little town in southern Utah called St. George. A lovely couple named Steve and Patricia Stanley started a restaurant called Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. Cafe Rio served authentic dishes derived from inspired recipes and traditional cooking of Northern Mexico’s Rio Grande region, Southern Texas, and New Mexico. Central to every bite was the belief that every ingredient must be fresh and made fresh to order. And you know what? People loved it. They couldn’t get enough of it. So much so, that one restaurant became six. In 2004, these six little restaurants caught the attention of a fine gentleman named Bob Nilsen. He purchased Cafe Rio from the Stanleys with the idea of spreading the love of making this fresh Mexican food to everyone in and around Utah and beyond. He made sure to keep the mantra of “fresh food, made fresh” at the very core of the brand. No freezers. No microwaves. Nothing premade. Mr. Nilsen has since moved on and a new team of quality-obsessed leaders have taken the wheel. To this day, our staff still begins each day, bright and early, hand-squeezing limes, hand-scooping avocados, chopping fresh vegetables, simmering sauces, and preparing the chef-inspired recipes our fans have come to love.
