Since we met in our 20’s, decades ago, my husband and I have lived the healthy, adventurous, entrepreneurial California lifestyle. After careers in real estate and wholesaling, for over a decade now we’ve devoted our finances, energy and time to tea. We are loose tea fanatics. We don’t just like it..we’re passionate about it! The tea adventure started for me in the early 2000′s when I began to study tea and source and develop relationships with some of the finest growers, importers and blenders in the world. A partner and I cofounded a retail tea company in 2004, which eventually opened 3 stores in Southern California resort areas. In 2008, my husband and I became partners in a retail tea store called California Tea & Coffee Brewery in the Wine Country of Southern California, which we operated until December of 2012. Our Heritage Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. Ten years later, a young New Yorker named Howard Schultz would walk through these doors and become captivated with Starbucks coffee from his first sip.
