Our Heritage Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. The Gruttadauria family has a long history serving desserts for over a century. The Gruttadauria family has a long history of making Italian desserts, spanning over 100 years, and 4 generations. Our family’s traditions and recipes have gone unchanged and held up with each generation. Originating from Caltanissetta, Sicily, where our founder, Salvatore Gruttadauria, was born. Leaving his homeland, he set out for America with a book full of recipes and a a plan to open up his own Italian bakery. Coming through Ellis Island, he planned his way to Chicago for the American dream but decided to stop in Rochester, NY to visit friends and decided to stay. A year later he opened our first bakery in 1914 right away he was well known in town for his amazing cannoli’s! A recipe we still use to this day! located in downtown Rochester, NY. It wasn’t long before Salvatore met the love of his life and married Josephine Mangione. Soon after they had children, Michaelina (Lee), Salvatore Jr. (Sam) and Helen. Being a tight-knit family, everyone baked and worked in the family business making sweets and selling our signature Italian Rum Cake a sponge cake layered with a citrus cream soaking in a sweet rum syrup! In the 1940’s, Salvatore Sr. ill from fighting in WWI, passed on the responsibility of the bakery to his son, Sam, and daughters. Salvatore Jr., known by all as Sam, ran the bakery for over 50 years with his wife Ann. They had four kids, Sam Jr., Charles, Steven, and Mark. All of Sam’s sons worked in the bakery, each specializing in different aspects of the bakery and becoming the staple place to get your Italian cookies with over 40 different varieties! throughout the years. In addition to the bakery, the Gruttadauria family hosted the La Fiera Italian festival one of the largest cultural festivals in NYS. In 2004, after 90 years in downtown Rochester, Stephen and Mark moved the bakery to the town of Greece, a suburb of Rochester, where Mark and his wife, Linda, and their children, Dominic and Michael worked with them. With the fourth generation came new ideas and new opportunities. Growing up in the family business Dominic and Michael learned the trade. In 2014 Michael went to Florence, Italy to study baking and pastry for a year. In 2018, after vacationing in California, they fell in love with the Temecula area and saw an opportunity to be able to move the business out west. In June of 2018, Michael moved out to Temecula, CA to open a separate location. In January of 2019, Mark, Linda and Dominic decided to close the bakery in Rochester and come out west to join Michael. Now located in Temecula, California, the current bakery is named Gruttadauria’s 1914 Bakery in honor of the year we were established and the 100+ years our family has been making bakes goods for your customers! About Us & Pricing TL Custom Cakes & Desserts is a licensed home bakery in Murrieta, CA (Riverside County PR0088438). We specialize in custom floral buttercream cakes for weddings and special events. We also provide services for catering special occasions and corporate events. All cakes are priced at $10 per serving including cake and design (delivery is separate). The minimum order for cakes is $275, and for cupcakes is $240. We do not offer sheet cakes however, we recommend choosing large rounds or squares to bring servings up to guest count requirements as needed. All desserts are priced at $10 per person, which includes three mini-bite desserts per person. The minimum order for catering is $750 Delivery is $50 within a 10-mile radius of my home in Murrieta, CA. If additional miles are needed, we charge $2 per round-trip mile. We service the following counties: Riverside, San Diego, Orange, and some parts of Los Angeles. Please provide your delivery address in your inquiry so a quote can be given. For cakes that are larger than 2 tiers, delivery is required. Cake tastings are $100 for an 8-piece box set. Single flavors are $13 each. Dessert tasting boxes are $125 for the entire tasting menu (This is a special order item that requires an inquiry submission). Chad Braun, owner and founder of XPR started business in 2008 just 3 short years after moving from his hometown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As far as he can remember, Chad had a passion for bikes. Although he worked on his own cars and did all the work on them, his true passion was bikes. Chad got his start hands on from a reluctant shop owner in Calgary specializing in Ducati service & performance. With no prior work experience on bikes other than maintaining his own, the owner was taking a chance on him. Fast forward 6 years and Chad custom built his own Ducati from nuts and bolts, with the exception of spraying the paint he did it all. Had the shop owner of the Ducati shop not given him the chance on working on these prestigious bikes, Chad may never had been given the opportunity elsewhere. During his teen years, Chad raced most of the local and provincial races throughout Canada. Placing in the top 3, Chad aspired to be an established National Rider. While most parents were taking their kid’s bikes to bike shops, Chad, a bike enthusiast was hands on and self-taught himself all the service on his bikes. He knew at a very young age that owning his own shop was always what he wanted. He would work in his parent’s garage in Canada helping out friends. Now operating in Southern California -the hub of MX/SX racing, Chad is a long way from general service on his own and friend’s bikes out of his parent’s garage. To now working with professional race teams and riders locally and internationally, Chad never forgets where he started. Although he never had the chance to fulfill his National Championship goal, Chad was able to take his racing experience and from that give back to his customers and race teams a competitive edge to those not being supported by factory teams as well as for the bike enthusiast.
