Our Heritage Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders. Ten years later, a young New Yorker named Howard Schultz would walk through these doors and become captivated with Starbucks coffee from his first sip. After joining the company in 1982, a different cobblestone road would lead him to another discovery. It was on a trip to Milan in 1983 that Howard first experienced Italy’s coffeehouses, and he returned to Seattle inspired to bring the warmth and artistry of its coffee culture to Starbucks. By 1987, we swapped our brown aprons for green ones and embarked on our next chapter as a coffeehouse. Starbucks would soon expand to Chicago and Vancouver, Canada and then on to California, Washington, D.C. and New York. By 1996, we would cross the Pacific to open our first store in Japan, followed by Europe in 1998 and China in 1999. Over the next two decades, we would grow to welcome millions of customers each week and become a part of the fabric of tens of thousands of neighborhoods all around the world. Offerings Our main focus is precise cocktail service at Thompson and Twain! For food, beer and wine we are happy to direct you to our neighboring establishments, Crush & Brew and Espadín. Our cocktail menu leans heavily towards time appropriate spirits – Rye and Bourbon Whiskey along with Gin, but we offer the full range of familiar spirits. We pride ourselves on custom cocktail craftsmanship and will make a drink tailored to your preference based on a few questions and your direction. WALK INS ONLY Seating for the bar is by walk in only based upon availability. We kindly ask that parties are limited to 8 per group and that you keep your visit to two hours or less so we can make welcome other guests in our limited space. Sorry folks, but there were no phones in the 1800s and there ain't any now in our bar to accept requests or inquires regarding available seating. Please check in person with the host or lead bartender on duty for wait times or to put your name on the wait list. Dress Code Time period appropriate clothing or formal wear is not required but encouraged. Please leave your revolvers, carbines and blades at the door. This is a civilized saloon. Behavior While the Western frontier was defined by roughnecks, ruffians and general lawlessness, guests in Thompson and Twain are expected to maintain decorum and etiquette. Inebriation, barfights, unwelcome advances, hollering, pistol duels, bounty hunting, moonshining, catcalling, cheating at cards, liar’s dice, and tobacco chewing are strictly prohibited. 21+ Only While the west was known for disorder and rebellion, we abide by the local governance and require that all patrons be a minimum of 21 years of age. Studio 4 Ceramics is a sister company to CR Studio 4, which is a production ceramic and metal Art tile studio. We've been in business for over twenty eight years. The owners, Cy & Robin Vojak both have degrees in art and love creating with clay. Our ceramic tile studio produces beautiful hand made tile during the day, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. We then transform our tile production facility into an environment perfect for creating with clay. We have 8 pottery wheels and lots of table space. Our studio has 2- 80 cubic ft. gas kilns (yes that's huge) and a smaller 18 cubic ft gas kiln. We also have a Raku kiln and two electric kilns. Studio 4 has available for sale, clay, tools and kiln time. We will fire your home made projects made with our clay. Our kiln time charge includes use of our standard cone 5 glazes. [read more]

A Legend In Its Own Time In 1982, the Southern California Restaurant Writers named The Trabuco Oaks Steak House “A Legend In Its Own Time.” It was an exhilarating honor, but also a humbling one. After all, being a legend in your own time is a pretty heavy responsibility. So we asked ourselves, what did we do to become a legend? On June 28, 1968 Eleanor, Duke and Randy Sherod opened Trabuco Oaks as a snack bar serving campers from O’Neill Regional Park and Trabuco Canyon residents. That worked out pretty well, so they decided to serve dinner as well. Now, there are dinners and there are DINNERS. We decided ours would follow two rules: keep it simple, and do it right.
