Helio Motorized Bicycles was formed in 2009 and is the premiere motorized gas bike company in the USA. What separates our business from the rest is that we actually assemble our bikes. Most other companies sell kits and parts. This is great for the do-it-yourself home mechanic. However, if you aren’t experienced in mechanics it can be frustrating,costly and time consuming. There are many parts in the motor kits that are simply trash. Through tons of experience, we have thrown away what parts are cheap and faulty. Helio specializes in assembly (we have built hundreds), testing and tuning. We have engineered custom made parts for our Motorized Bicycles. These parts, increase dependability,quality and performance. Through trial and error, we have decided to concentrate on the 4 stroke gas motor instead of the 2 stroke. Why you ask? Go to for a write up on 2 vs. 4 stroke bicycle engines. Since we shifted to the 4 stroke, Helio has been able to concentrate on building bikes with these motors. In particular Helio has discovered ways to use both the Honda GXH50 and the smaller GX35. These motors, when mated to an American made Gearbox produce a reliable power plant. Our gas bikes get 150-250mpg and will cruise a comfortable 35mph! Helio is constantly trying to better our product with new parts and models. The story begins in Prescott, Arizona... The Jesus People Movement was sweeping America and multitudes of young people were being profoundly saved and converted to Christ. While many of the traditional churches closed their doors to the long haired, denim clad hippies, Pastor Wayman Mitchell received them with open arms. Pastor Mitchells solid grounding in the Word of God and his passion to take the Gospel into all the world was soon imparted in to the hearts of many zealous new converts. In a few short years, several young couples were launched into surrounding cities to pioneer new churches. In 1976, following the pattern that had been set in Prescott AZ, a couple was sent into Tempe, AZ to begin a new church. From there a couple was sent into San Diego, CA. Another church was formed when San Diego sent a couple into Imperial Beach, CA. It was in the Imperial Beach church that Uriel Servin Jr was saved, baptized, and was eventually sent to assume leadership of the church in Temecula, CA from Pastor Justin Carl who answered the call to go to Betim, Brazil. UP Sports Oceanside Surf Shop
The history of the “UP” brand is diverse and deep, formed in 1972 by Pete Brock as “Ultralite Products” for the singular purpose of manufacturing hang gliders. Within a few short years Pete built the company into the largest hang gliding company in the world, and developed the sport of long distance hang gliding competition. He then left the company due to the exposure and liability associated with hang gliding, and returned to the automotive industry where he was instrumental in the design of the Corvette Sting Ray and Shelby Daytona Cobra. In 1980 Japanese investor Yuseke Yamazaki and George Follman, a champion hang glider took over the brand forming “Up Sports, Inc.” The UP factory is established in Orange County California, producing high performance gliders, ultra lights, wind surfing products and other related sports equipment which are shipped worldwide. As times changed the company evolved into what can now be described as a watersports retail operation primarily serving the stand up paddleboard, surf, kayak and spear fishing clientele of the greater San Diego area and beyond. After more than 35 years as Up Sports, Inc., in January of 2017, founder George Follman decides it’s time to retire. A young Italian immigrant, left Italy in search of opportunity. He not only found opportunity, he found love, success and his forever future... Charity, was born in Rhode Island to her mother Cassandra and father Lorenzo Comella, a first generation American Italian from Rhode Island. Charity grew up in Temecula, moving here in 1981. In 2000, an Italian immigrant, Alessandro "Alex" Prestifilippo moved to Temecula after being in the states (Orange County, CA) for 4 years. Alex opened his first restaurant in America in 1999. That restaurant is Gourmet Italia, a world renowned restaurant in Temecula. Alex and Charity met at Gourmet Italia in 2001 and fell in love immediately. They married February 2002. Alex's daughter, Mimi would be excited to hear that her brother, Luca would be born to her Papa` and new "bonus" mom in November that year. Her second brother, Logan, would be born July, 2005! A year after Logan was born, Spuntino was born! The concept was inspired by a place in Providence, Rhode Island called Venda Ravioli! When Spuntino opened, it was a deli, grocery, pizzeria... in that order. As the years past, the desire of the customers changed to PIZZERIA, DELI, BAR! We serve the finest quality imported Italian products, recipes and menu! Spuntino brought the first real wood burning Italian Pizza Oven to the Temecula Valley. In 2013 The Bar Next Door was introduced! Charity, Alex's wife, has been very involved in opening and running several of the family businesses. She is now the founder and president of her non-profit, Charity for Charity. Mimi, Alex's daughter, manages Poggio Leano Beach Resort in Donnalucata, Sicily.
